While the W.H. Stanton home is beautiful, it is also empty. It is especially tricky to get buyers to fall in love with an empty home. It is hard to envision the scale of furniture, the flow of traffic and even the sound of a home filled with possessions when the house is empty. The sounds and scents of an empty house are different and can effect how a person feels in a house. Fill a house with furniture and it feels inviting and sounds welcoming.
RTS Historic Homes is mainly a renovation firm so we do not have a large collection of furniture to stage a 5000 Sq ft house. We have staged the rooms we can, living, kitchen, mud room and master, and will virtually stage the rest. The dining room below is large and gorgeous. The chandelier is crystal and dazzling. However, most historical homes in this price range are filled with very traditional furniture that is either antique or looks antique. This can scare off some buyers. Either those whose tastes do not run to antiques, those who have children who cannot maintain them or even those who prefer a more casual lifestyle. To appeal to as many buyers as possible I chose to go for casual elegance with some traditional inspiration. It shows the potential of the room with the large table and serving buffet along the back wall. The linen curtains highlight the view and frame the leaded glass in the center. The chandelier is the most elegant piece and star of the show.
